I must have been born in the wrong decade. I would’ve been very at-home in the era when long flowing gowns were worn to formal dinner parties. (Let’s put aside the fact that they didn’t have the vote and many weren’t allowed by their husbands to work for a living, it was a beautiful time visually!) So this dinner party invitation is an homage to that more civilized time — but with modern twists. The periwinkle color scheme makes it a little more modern, as does the floral background. If periwinkle isn’t your thing and you’d like to change the color scheme, you can pop it into a graphics program, such as Photoshop Elements (Photoshop’s less expensive and easier to use sibling) or the free program. Just use the “Hue and Saturation” settings to adjust the colors.

The overall design is subtle, and that’s on purpose. I wanted the final invitation to be soft and sophisticated. I hope you find it useful!

I’m of such a vintage that I was alive in the 1950s (at least at the very end of that decade), so this design is close to my heart. And I particularly resonate with the diner aspect, because food just seems to taste better when you eat it in a silver metal tube with a long counter and red plastic seats! I’m not quite old enough to have actually eaten in a real 1950s diner but reinventions of them were quite the rage during the nostalgia boom when I was growing up in Los Angeles in the 1970s. I ate many a greasy hamburger, washed down by vanilla milkshakes.

This 5″ x 7″ horizontal template can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, girls or guys night out, retirement parties, and of course, reunions. I hope you find it useful!

I’m a bit of a fanatic about Victorian and vintage images, especially when they involve flowers, so I just love this blank 5″ x 7″ printable vintage template. It has plenty of colorful Victorian flower images, plus a blue butterfly and a very graceful magical fairy. There are also very subtle ivory tone-on-tone stripes in the background, which provide a neutral pattern that unifies all that rich color.

This design can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, bridal showers and engagement parties, bon voyage and retirement parties and so on, but because it’s blank, it could also be used for a vintage-look wedding or commitment ceremony. (I also designed another Victorian-inspired vintage wedding announcement, which is posted on this blog.) You could also fold it in half and print on the inside to use it as a folding thank you or response card, or you could reduce it for use as table place cards.
