Halloween Owl Cupcakes

These four cute little Halloween owls were made to live on top of cupcakes, but I’ll bet you can find other uses for them too. I did. As you’ll see below, I attached them to a 3D Black balsa wood tree I bought at Michael’s Crafts. I combined the owls with some foam leaves I covered with glitter glue. I’m sure there must be an easier way to make glittery leaves though! I spent many hours on mine. I also added some cute glittery balls that had the same colors as the toppers. I used Art Minds Crafty Tack to attach everything to the tree. It’s the first time I’ve used it and I really liked it.
There was a lot of work involved, but I’m very pleased with the final result. As is the case with much of my photography, the real thing is much cuter than the photo!
To make the owls, you’ll need a sharp pair of scissors. I use curved manicure scissors but you can use whatever make you comfortable. Once the owls are cut, you can make toppers out of them by just putting a small amount of glue in a vertical line about halfway up the back, from the bottom up. Then, just lay a toothpick or party pick (which is slightly bigger than a toothpick) in the glue and let it dry.
